Bay-Baids Make Things All Better!
Like many toddler's Olivia has an odd obsession with band-aids. Not only does she love them, but when without, she will happily pretend that her stickers are band-aids. We have a 35-40 minute commute home each day after I get off work. The other day, I believe she fixed a half a dozen imaginary "owies" with her sticker band-aides. She would put it on and say, "I have owie, all better!" She even put them on me and said, "Mommy owie, Mommy feel better." The dog, however, was not as amused at her attempt to fix his owie. :) Olivia normally calls band-aides "Bay-Baides" which I find quite cute... but has recently managed to pronounce it more correctly. :)
Ride the Rhino
We recently went to Omaha with a couple that has been friends with us since college. They also have a daughter who is younger than Olivia (5 months old). We normally camp each summer, but since their child is a little young to camp... at least with as much ease as we might like, we decided not to rough it this year, and booked adjoining rooms at the Hilton Omaha. Olivia had lots of fun and called Abigail by name from the first day. She LOVED the zoo. As we began to make the trek toward the rhinoceros exhibit, we told Olivia where we were headed. She immediately said, "Ride the rhino!" I'm not sure where this came from, but she was OBSESSED with the rhinos, and this ended up being her favorite animal. The gorillas were a close second. "Ride the Rhino" was a common phrase from her during the trip. At the very end, we discovered the carousel which we paid for upon entering the zoo had a Rhino! I put her up on it, and she said, "Mommy, I ride the Rhino!" She was SOOOO excited! Then there was another Rhino made from concrete that she got to "ride" as well. So, her day was made... the only sadness... having to leave the zoo and the rhinos behind.
Pony Paste
Olivia has a few obsessions currently. At age 2 years 3 months, her life revolves around animals (dogs, horses, and cows are among her favorites), dresses, jewelry, doing things like mommy, cleaning up, singing, dancing, and just being silly. She's is also pretty obsessed with both ponies and staying clean. Thus, toothpaste with My Little Pony on the front was a definite winner. I think we're going to go through a lot of "Pony Paste" as she calls it. She will stand and brush her teeth forever if you let her and keep giving her more paste (luckily it's kids paste so she can swallow it). But, you have to be right there, because every couple minutes she wants "more pony paste".
